Jack Price reunites with Dave Edwards at Shrewsbury Town Shrewsbury Town midfielder Jack Price has opened up about his special bond with assistant manager Dave Edwards, reuniting at the club after their time together at Wolves. The 33-year-old returned to Shrewsbury this summer after a spell with Brackley Town, where he played under current Salop boss Gavin Cowan. The pair first played together at Wolves and have now been reunited in their hometown, with Edwards taking on his first coaching role at Shrewsbury. The club currently sits 19th in England League Two with 49 points from 46 games, having scored 42 goals and conceded 69 this season. ## How did their partnership begin? Price and Edwards first crossed paths during their time at Wolves, where they formed a midfield partnership. "I've played with Edwards at Wolves," Price said. "Obviously, being from Shrewsbury, that's how we had a bit of a partnership there. We played together a little bit in the midfield, which was nice." The duo's connection runs deeper than just their time on the pitch, with both players hailing from Shrewsbury. "He is Shrewsbury through and through," Price added. "I think I am Shrewsbury (though and through), he's more Shrewsbury than me." ## Why Edwards is a valuable asset Edwards recently signed a new deal to remain as Shrewsbury's assistant manager, marking his first coaching position. Price praised his former teammate's qualities, saying: "He's just a great person to have at the top. Everyone loves him at the football club. He loves the football club." The midfielder also highlighted Edwards' experience and achievements, stating: "He's played at the top level. He's scored at every level. He played for his country. If you don't respect that, then you shouldn't really be in football." ## What's next for Shrewsbury? With the club finishing 19th in League Two last season, Price and Edwards will be looking to improve their fortunes in the upcoming campaign. Shrewsbury ended the season with a recent form of LDDWL, losing their last two games, including a 1-0 defeat to Gillingham on May 2, 2026. Price believes Edwards' presence will be beneficial for the young players in the squad. "Players should look up to him, the young lads - be Dave Edwards, on and off the pitch, then you're going to go a long way," he said.
