Shrewsbury's former captain John Marquis has been praised for his classy post-match act. The 34-year-old, who was released by the club at the end of last season, offered advice and tips to young centre-backs at Fulham's academy after a game. Marquis, who captained Shrewsbury during his two-year spell at the club, was commended by Fulham's head of academy for his actions. The Professional Footballers' Association's free agent pre-season training camp, which Marquis is part of, recently faced Fulham's academy and ran out 2-1 winners. Marquis and fellow free-agent forward Connor Wickham were praised for taking the time to pass on their experience and share their knowledge with the young defenders. Shrewsbury's head of medical performance, Chris Skitt, was among those to commend Marquis in response to the post. Marquis was released by Shrewsbury at the end of last season, bringing to an end a two-year spell at the club. The next fixture for Shrewsbury is vs Oldham (away, 2027-02-27) (8th in the table).
