Shrewsbury Town manager Gavin Cowan has provided an update on the club’s transfer plans, hinting that his side could bring in as many as three new players before the transfer deadline. The club has already made eight additions this summer as part of Cowan's efforts to shape his squad for the new campaign.
Despite the recent influx of players, it has been over two weeks since Shrewsbury Town’s last signing, and they are currently operating under a transfer fee restriction that limits their ability to sign players on permanent deals. Instead, the club can only bring in players through loan deals.
Cowan has already expressed his desire to add a number 10 and a striker before the deadline but suggests there could be room for another player as well. He stated: 'Of course. I know the club are doing everything possible for me. We have certain regulations that we have to answer to.'
The manager emphasized the complexity of the situation, noting that there is movement in and out of the football club and that it's not as straightforward as people might think. He added: 'I’m working really hard to get people in the building - the club are on board with doing that. We just have to go through certain channels of how we’re going to work it. We have to meet certain regulations.'
Cowan concluded by saying, 'We’re all working together to try and get the best possible squad. For me, two more players in the building, possibly three, depending on the relationships we can get with clubs at a high level, possibly three, can really put us in a really good place.'
