Lee Angol, a former Shrewsbury Town striker, has joined the PFA free-agent camp.
Why it matters for Shrewsbury
The move comes as Shrewsbury Town sits 3 points behind leaders Walsall in League Two, with a recent form L.
Angol joins several other ex-Salop players at the eighth week of the camp, which is designed to support players looking for a new club.
Lee Angol has become the latest former Shrewsbury Town player to join the Professional Footballers’ Association’s (PFA) free-agent camp.
Angol joined Shrewsbury in August 2018 under then-manager John Askey, arriving from Mansfield Town for an undisclosed fee and signing a two-year contract.
The forward scored three goals in 17 League One appearances for Town before joining Lincoln City on loan in January 2019 for the remainder of the season.
Angol then joined newly promoted League Two club Leyton Orient for an undisclosed fee in July 2019.
The forward most recently played for Eastbourne Borough in the National League South last season.
The PFA’s free-agent camp is open to out-of-contract members who were under professional contracts during the previous season.
Other former Shrewsbury players currently involved are goalkeeper Jamal Blackman, Josh Emmanuel, Sam Hart, Anthony Scully and Vadaine Oliver.
Last season’s Town captain Marquis, who was released by the club this summer, had been involved in the PFA camp during its first seven weeks but is not listed among the participants for week eight.
