Shrewsbury Town striker Fejiri Okenabirhie has been ruled out of the team's trip to Ipswich with a hamstring injury.
The 23-year-old had netted his first goal of the season at Accrington Stanley last week.
What happened?
Okenabirhie picked up the injury after coming off the bench against Burton last Saturday. He had a slight injury initially but then suffered a separate knock that will keep him sidelined.
Impact on the team
Shrewsbury's injury-ravaged squad has taken one hit after another throughout pre-season and the early stages of the new campaign. Boss Sam Ricketts revealed that midfielder Sean Goss's ankle injury is being assessed ahead of the trip to Suffolk. Josh Laurent and Dave Edwards are okay to feature, while fellow midfielder Romain Vincelot could be back in contention for Town.
Current standings
As of 27 Jun 2026, Shrewsbury Town is 19th in League Two with 49 points from 46 games, having scored 42 goals and conceded 69. Their recent form has been LDDWL, with 0 wins, 3 draws, and 2 losses in their last 5 matches. | Category | Stat | | League standing | 19th | | Points | 49 | | Goals scored | 42 | | Goals conceded | 69 | | Recent form | LDDWL |
Road to recovery
The Town boss had a better update on key duo Ollie Norburn and Ro-Shaun Williams, who have returned to light, non-contact training and could face a shot at being ready for the visit of Peterborough a week on Saturday. And with the team looking to bounce back from their last result, a 1-0 loss to Gillingham on 2026-05-02, Ricketts will be hoping his squad can regain their fitness and form soon.
