Shrewsbury Town FC has unveiled permanent banners for Jake King, Mickey Brown and Mal Starkey outside Croud Meadow as part of its 140th anniversary season celebrations.

The club confirmed the honours on Tuesday following a fan vote that saw Jake King top the poll, with Mickey Brown finishing second and Mal Starkey recognised for his outstanding contribution both on and off the pitch.

These three legends join Graham Turner, Alf Wood, Ken Mulhearn and Arthur Rowley, who are already commemorated with banners at the stadium.

The banner initiative is part of a wider series of events throughout the anniversary season, and the club confirmed that one more name will be revealed in due course.

Toby Auckland reported the story for Shrewsbury Town FC, noting that the fan vote played a key role in selecting the latest honourees.

As of 4 September 2026, Shrewsbury Town sit 22nd in League Two with 3 points from 4 games, having won 1, lost 3 and scored just 2 goals while conceding 8.

The club are currently 6 points behind league leaders Bristol Rovers in the early season standings.

Fans can stay updated on the team’s progress by checking the standings page, while upcoming fixtures are available on the fixtures section.

The final name to be added to the Croud Meadow banner series will be announced by the club in the coming weeks.
