Louie Bradbury has signed for Championship side Stoke City after leaving Manchester United this summer. The 17-year-old Shropshire-born midfielder completed his move to the Potters having agreed a two-year professional contract that includes the option of a further year in the club’s favour.
Bradbury spent several years in Shrewsbury Town’s academy before joining Manchester United at the age of 14. He signed his scholarship with the Red Devils last year and earned his first professional terms this summer, a deal that brought a small fee to Shrewsbury Town under their development compensation agreement.
Under the guidance of Darren Fletcher during the 2025/26 campaign, Bradbury enjoyed a breakthrough season with Manchester United’s youth sides. He scored nine goals in all competitions for the under-18s and added two more for the under-21s, making five appearances for the younger age group during the 2024/25 season.
The teenager also represented Wales at the summer’s Under-19 European Championships, making substitute appearances against Denmark and Spain. His international experience contributed to the interest from Stoke City, where academy director Jack Higgins confirmed the transfer.
"We are delighted to bring Louie to the club," Higgins said. "Louie joins us at a good age to continue his development and thrive in our environment after some brilliant experiences with Manchester United during the past few years."
Manchester United wished Bradbury well following his departure, stating: "Everyone at Manchester United wishes Louie all the best with his next stage of his career."
The move comes as Shrewsbury Town prepare for their upcoming League Two fixtures, currently sitting 22nd in the table with 3 points from 4 games, a record of 1W-0D-3L and recent form LWLL. The club have scored 2 goals and conceded 8 this season, leaving them 6 points behind leaders Bristol Rovers. Fans can review the full standings to see how Shrewsbury Town compare across League Two.
Stoke City, who are also known as the Potters, will look to integrate Bradbury into their squad as they aim to build for the future.
