Shrewsbury Town midfielder Jack Price will be out for the foreseeable future after suffering a hamstring injury. The 33-year-old midfielder, who returned to his hometown club this summer, initially suffered the injury during pre-season. Shrewsbury head coach Gavin Cowan confirmed the extent of the problem after a scan this week.

Cowan said Price is absolutely devastated because he had such a strong pre-season and the team was looking forward to utilising him this season.

Why it matters for Shrewsbury

The injury is a major blow to the team, which is currently sitting 22nd in League Two with 0 points from 1 game, having scored 0 goals and conceded 2.

Shrewsbury is 3 points behind leaders Walsall and will face Oldham away on 2027-02-27.

Although Price's main focus will be to regain his fitness as quickly as possible, he will likely have a part to play off the field helping guide the club's younger players while he recovers. Cowan added that Price can offer something to the team with his experience of playing at a high level. With the next fixture against Oldham looming, Shrewsbury will have to find a way to cope without their injured midfielder.
