'I'm getting a bit stir-crazy' - Shrewsbury Town's transfer search continues

Frustration Amidst Transfer Hunt

Shrewsbury Town’s manager Gavin Cowan admitted to feeling frustrated at missing out on some potential signings but remains optimistic about the squad’s current shape and future additions.

Town began their new season with a victory over Salford City in the Carabao Cup. The club could not afford to leave itself vulnerable, as Cowan explained: 'We need a couple more. I think, worst case two, maybe three.'

Despite this setback, Cowan expressed gratitude for the squad's current composition and their patience in the transfer process.

Ongoing Search for Reinforcements

The club is currently operating under a transfer fee embargo, meaning they cannot pay fees for new players. However, Cowan reaffirmed that they will remain patient until the window closes on September 1 at 11pm. He stated: 'We’re working relentlessly around the clock.'

Cowan also noted his personal frustration with the situation, saying, 'I’m certainly getting a bit stir-crazy with it all. But we have to remain patient.'

The manager emphasized that Shrewsbury Town is focused on acquiring the right players rather than rushing into any signings: 'We don’t just want to get anybody in and get the right players in. So we’re going to try and stay patient up until the window and get the right ones in.'

Cowan expressed his appreciation for chairman’s support, saying, 'But I’m just really thankful now that the chairman’s gone out of his way to give me the green light.'
