Shrewsbury Town have moved to cover an injury crisis by re-signing goalkeeper Cameron Gregory on a short-term deal. The 26-year-old, a product of the club's academy, is eligible for Saturday's League Two trip to face Crewe Alexandra.
Manager Gavin Cowan worked with Gregory during his time at Brackley and was pleased to bring him back. "I’m really pleased to welcome Cameron back to the club," Cowan said. "It’s a short-term deal, but we’re really pleased to have Cameron on board and I’m looking forward to working with him again."
The move was prompted by an injury to first-choice goalkeeper Sam Proctor. Gregory provides immediate cover as Shrewsbury, who sit 18th in the table with six points from six games, prepare for a key period. Their recent form shows two wins and three losses from the last five outings.
Gregory's local roots and prior connection to the club make him a logical short-term solution. The immediate focus is the away fixture at Crewe, who are currently eighth in the standings. Fans can view the full upcoming fixtures and check the latest squad information on the club's official pages. The deal runs for an initial short period as the club assesses Proctor's recovery timeline.
