Shrewsbury Town FC has issued a statement distancing itself from a planned protest in the town centre ahead of its first home match of the season against Barnet on Saturday, 22nd August. The protest, organised by the Shrewsbury ‘Raise the Flags’ group, is the third in the town in recent months.

The football club has made clear that any group claiming to represent or engage with Shrewsbury Town supporters is not affiliated with the club. Their actions and messaging are not endorsed by the club in any capacity.

Why it matters for Shrewsbury

The club reiterates its unwavering commitment to being a fully inclusive organisation, welcoming all supporters regardless of race, sexuality, disability, religion or gender. With the team currently 22nd in League Two, 0 pts, 0W-0D-1L from 1 games, and 3 points behind leaders Walsall, the focus remains on the upcoming matches, including the next fixture vs Oldham on 2027-02-27.

The club has also confirmed a change to the location of one of its bus routes to the match, switching from Shrewsbury’s Railway Station to Abbey Church, to ensure the safety of supporters and the security of the Croud Meadow. The bus will depart from Abbey Church on Abbey Foregate, picking up at all stops up to Shirehall, and then going directly to the Croud Meadow. This change may result in slightly earlier pick-ups from the Shirehall, but the club believes this is the safest way for all supporters to arrive at the game.
