Shrewsbury Town Receives Positive Updates as Hoole and Price Near Returns

Gavin Cowan Provides Update on Injured Players

Shrewsbury Town manager Gavin Cowan has delivered updates on two key injured players, Luca Hoole and Jack Price. Both are making progress towards their return to the team.

Luca Hoole's Progress

Defender Luca Hoole is recovering from an ankle injury that sidelined him for recent pre-season matches. Hoole was back on the pitch completing running and ball drills ahead of Shrewsbury’s draw against Hereford, showing signs of improvement. Cowan stated, “He’s progressing really well. I’m being told by the medical staff that he’ll be on the grass kicking footballs this week. So, yes, we need to work hard to get him out on the pitch."

Hoole signed a new two-year contract with Shrewsbury in summer, indicating his commitment to the club. The defender was crucial last season and received several end-of-season awards for his performances.

Jack Price's Recovery

Midfielder Jack Price has missed the last two pre-season matches due to an inflamed heel caused by an infection. Cowan expressed optimism but acknowledged that patience is required, as “He’s really close. He’s had a lot of progress the last few days since we spoke.”

Price's recovery involves multiple treatments including ultrasound and shockwave therapy. Cowan explained, “It’s just an infection, it’s hard to get it out of there. We’ve just got to wait for it to come good.”

Jay Snook's Status

Young forward Jay Snook has also missed recent fixtures due to tightness in his hamstring during a pre-season match against Everton Under-21s. Snook was involved in pre-match warm-ups at Hereford, completing running exercises as he continues his recovery.

Upcoming Pre-Season Match

Shrewsbury Town will face young Aston Villa in their final pre-season fixture this weekend before the competitive campaign begins.
