Shrewsbury have signed striker Josh Davison on a two-year contract. The 26-year-old finished the 2025-26 season on loan at Cheltenham Town, scoring one goal in 16 League Two appearances.

What happened?

Davison started his career with Charlton Athletic, taking in loan spells at Woking, Forest Green Rovers, and Swindon Town. He joined AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee in 2022 before moving to Tranmere two years later.

Why it matters for Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury boss Gavin Cowan told the club's website: "We played against him a couple of times last season. In that first game against Tranmere, he really showed a lot of the qualities we're looking for."

What comes next?

The Shrews finished 19th in League Two last season, with a record of 13W-10D-23L from 46 games, and a recent form of LDDWL. They begin the new season at Salford City in the first round of the Carabao Cup on Saturday, 8 August.
