Defender Taylor Moore has left Bristol Rovers by mutual consent, the League Two side announced this week. The 29-year-old, who spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Shrewsbury Town, had a year left on his contract but has moved on after dropping out of boss Steve Evans' plans.

Moore made a strong impression during his time with Shrewsbury, playing 42 League One games and 48 in total across all competitions. His reliable displays in defence earned him a positive reputation with fans before he returned to Bristol City at the end of that loan spell.

His football story is an international one. Moore was born in East London but relocated to France aged seven. After a brief stint in West Ham's academy, he played for amateur club Etaples before joining the youth setup at Lens at 12 years old. He rose through the ranks at the French club and made his first-team breakthrough, leading to a transfer to Bristol City in the summer of 2016. That move eventually facilitated his loan switch to Shrewsbury Town six years later.

The decision was reached by mutual agreement, allowing Moore to seek first-team football elsewhere. Despite having a contract until 2027, he was no longer part of manager Steve Evans' immediate plans at the Memorial Stadium. This gives Evans room to adjust his defensive line-up as Rovers push forward in League Two. Fans can track the club's progress in the standings as the season develops. Moore had been at Rovers since June 2024, making 64 appearances in all competitions.

Bristol City released Moore in May 2023 following his return from Shrewsbury. He then signed for Valenciennes in France's second tier, spending the 2023/24 season there before returning to England with Bristol Rovers. His departure from Rovers marks the end of that two-year chapter. Shrewsbury's current defensive roster can be viewed on the club's squad page, which shows the options available to the manager this season.

Taylor Moore is now a free agent and can sign for a club outside the transfer window. Shrewsbury Town's next fixture is a home League One match against Exeter City on Saturday, September 12th.
